term "found" is a bit of a misnomer when referring to regions that were already inhabited by indigenous peoples for thousands of years prior to the arrival of Europeans. However, if we are referring to the first European who arrived in Central America, that credit goes to Christopher Columbus during his fourth voyage in 1502. Columbus landed on the coast of what is today known as Honduras, and from there, he explored parts of Central and South America's Atlantic coasts.
