Given:

Nancy's height when she started middle school = 60 inches

Nancy's height when she started high school =  66 inches

Determine what was the percent change in her height.

Solution:

In order to determine the percent change in her height, we simply subtract her height during high school by her height when she started middle school. After we know the difference, we divide it with her height when she started middle school.

=66 - 60

= 6

= 6 / 60

= 0.10

Since we are given a decimal, we need to change it to percentage. In order to do so, we multiply the decimal by 100, hence in changing a percentage to decimal we divide it by 100.

= (0.10)(100)

=10%

Nancy's Height increased by 10%.
