Given the equation: 3/2 (4x -2) -3x = 5 - (x+20)

Find the value of x

Solution:

Distribute 3/2 in its corresponding parenthesis, and add or subtract similar terms.

 3/2 (4x -2) -3x = 5 - (x+20)

6x -3 - 3x = 5 - x + 20

3x -3 =-x + 25

Transpose similar terms on the other side of the equation. It must be taken to note that when transposing numbers, the sign changes.

3x+ x = 25 + 3

4x = 28

x = 7
