Argumentative essay by the word “argument” aims to give a statement, that somewhat contradicts or argues an existing idea through subjective reasoning. This can be done by stating facts, research articles, related topics, that may support the argument or claim. Argumentative essay needs to be analyze carefully and must be arranged in a systematic way, in order for the readers to understand the claim that the writer is referring to. Persuasive Essay, on the other hand is a type of essay, that deals in encouraging or persuading the readers to accept the idea that was presented. Persuading can be done by presenting facts or claims that may support the statement, but unlike an argumentative essay, it does not contradict or argues any existing idea about the said topic.

Argumentative Essay is often applicable in cases such as debate, since it is stating a claim that contradicts the opposite party, while Persuasive Essay is often applicable during a title defense or research defense since it is stating a claim that is supported by an existing literature.
