Correct answer is plasma membrane.

The plasma membrane, or the cell membrane, provides protection for a cell.

The cell membrane surrounds the cell and acts as a barrier.  It controls what comes in and out of the cell. Color the membrane light brown.

  1. The membrane can have structures on its surface that help the cell move, or move particles within the body. This cell has structures called cilia which can serve to sweep particles past the cells.  Color the cilia yellow.
  2. Animal and plant cells are both eukaryotes, meaning they have their DNA enclosed in the nucleus.  The DNA contains the cell’s genetic information which then controls the cell’s activities. Color the nuclear membrane dark brown.
