let A is the  point (-3,-1) and perpendicular intersect point on the x- axis is B

point B lies on x-axis so the coordinates of B are (-3,0)

now distance of the line AB is found out by distance formula:-

AB= root of (x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2

AB= root of(-3+3)^2+(0+1)^2

AB= root of (0)^2+(1)^2

AB=root of 0+1

AB= root of 1

AB=1 unit  (Answer)
