Matter by definition is simply anything that has mass and occupies space. It includes anything that can be seen around us, and even those that cannot be seen.  Matter has different properties, these include: object's density, color, mass, volume, length, malleability, melting point, hardness, odor, temperature, streak, phase, luster, crystalline structure, etc.

By fact, there are 3 states of matter, which are solid, liquid and gas. These stages can undergo changes or phase change, meaning that they change their phase into another state. Examples are change of solid to liquid (Melting), liquid to solid (Freezing), gas to liquid (condensation), liquid to gas (evaporation), gas to solid (deposition), and solid to gas (sublimation).
