Global warming refers to the long-term increase in Earth's average surface temperature due to human activities primarily the emission of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O). These gases are released by burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas, deforestation and various industrial processes. The enhanced greenhouse effect is the main driver of global warming. The greenhouse effect is a natural process where certain gases in the Earth's atmosphere trap heat, keeping our planet warm enough to support life. However, when we emit an excess of greenhouse gases, they increase the natural greenhouse effect, causing more heat to be trapped and leading to a rise in global temperatures. This rise in temperature can lead to a host of environmental issues including melting ice caps, rising sea levels more extreme weather events changes in wildlife populations and habitats and impacts on human health and agriculture.
