Centrosomes or a pair of centromeres, is a membrane bound organelle, which can only be found in Animal Cells. It is made up of microtubules called centrioles, and a protein group which helps in the formation of additional microtubules. The centrosome is located at the cytoplasm of the cell, near the nucleus, and it usually contains 100 different proteins.

During prophase stage, centrosomes are associated with the nuclear membrane. The nuclear membrane then breaks down when it enters the stage of mitosis, and the centrosome-nucleated microtubules are linked with chromosomes in order to form mitotic spindles.

For plant cells, it contains a chloroplast and cell wall, which made the cell distinct from animal cell.
