Exocytosis is the process of moving out materials from within the cell's interior to the exterior of the cell. It is a type of active transport, which is the movement of molecules across the membrane of the cell from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration, similar to diffusion although this only occurs within the cell. Endocytosis, on the other hand, is the process of "eating" or “capturing” a foreign substance outside of the cell by engulfing it with the cell membrane.
