Thermal energy is caused by active motion of molecules that are fast enough that as they collide it produces heat. The energy produced from the collision of molecules is called thermal energy. Thermal energy is used to generate electricity and is supplied to the end consumers. Another form of thermal energy is geothermal energy. It is an energy that harnesses the energy generated by the sub surface of the earth by means of hot water/ steam coming from places near the volcano.
