There are 6 black socks and 4 white socks in a drawer. If one sock is taken out without looking and then a second is taken out, what is the probability that they both will be black?

Formula:

Probability = favorable outcome/ Total outcome 

Number of black socks = 6

Number of white socks = 4

So, Total = 6 + 4 = 10

Now, probability of drawing black sock = 6/10

= 3/5 or 0.6

Now, remaining number of black socks = 5

So, Total = 5 + 4 = 9

Now, probability of drawing balck sock = 5/9

probability of drawing both black socks = 3/5 × 5/9

= 1/3 or 0.33

 

Hence, probability of getting black socks both the time is 1/3 or 0.33
