So basically we can form 2 equations with these two unknown numbers x and y

we have to express either x or y in relation with one another, in this case i will express x using our second equation

x-y=2

x=y+2

this i will substitute it in our first equation so we will have only 1 thing unknown

x+y=60

y+2+y=60

2y+2=60

2y=58

y=29

x=y+2

x=31
