According to the question , Ratio of sheep to horse = 8/3.

Thus, if the are 42 horses and x sheep on the farm

Then we will put the vale according to the equation to find out the value of sheep on the farm

              8/3 = x/42

8/3 is the ratio value in the farm of sheep and horse

 x/42 is the value of total number of sheep and horse

then, cross multiply the equation

             3x = 42 x 8

             3x = 336

             x = 336/3

             x = 112

then , the value of sheep in the farm = 112    (Answer)
