Then, we have
x = 3y - 1 ….(1)
and
2y + x = 18 + x ….(2)
from equation (2) , we get
2y = 18
y = 9
Putting value of y in equatio 1 , we get
x = 3(9) - 1
x = 26
Thus, the larger number is 26 and smaller number is 9.
