Lets try and write it mathematically. 

-2(10n+7) = 6

Multiply -2 with the variables and numbers inside the bracket so we can remove the bracket.

-20n-14=6

Put the variables on one side and the numbers on the other side. The numbers or variables that will switch sides, will have their sign switched as well from a + into a - and vice versa.

-20n=6+14

-20n=20

Divide both sides with -20.

-20n/(-20) = 20/(-20)

n=-1
