Lets try and turn -1 4/5x from a mixed fraction into a normal one. We will follow this route:
Multiply -1 with the denominator and then add the numerator to the result.
So we will have:
-1 x 5x = -5x
(-5x + 4) as the numerator and 5x will still be the denominator.
So we have:
(-5x + 4) / 5x = 9
Multiply both sides with 5x.
(-5x + 4) = 9 * 5x
-5x + 4 = 45x
Lets put the variables on one side and the numbers on the other side. Every variable or number that will change sides, will have their sign changed from a + into a - and vice versa.
45x+5x = 4
50x = 4
Divide both sides with 50.
50x/50 = 4/50
x = 2/25
