Pythagoras determined that the length of any side of a right triangle is based on the length of its other two sides. Hence, Pythagoras made a theorem in order to prove this concept, and it is widely used today, known as the Pythagorean Theorem:
c^2 = a^2 + b^2
Where c is the longest side and a and b are the other two sides. In order to find the value c, we take the square root of the sum of a squared and b squared, whereas we can also interchange the values in order to get either a, and b.
