Given that

Max mow the lawn in 45 minutes

Jan take twice the time Max takes

∴ Jan mow the lawn in 90 minutes

Now,

Max's one minute work = 1/45

Jan's one minute work = 1/90

If both work together then work done in one minute

= Max's One minute work + Jan's One minute work

= 1/45 + 1/90

= 2/90 + 1/90

= 3/90 or 1/30

In one minute they finish 1/30th part of the work

Time taken to finish whole work by both of them together  = 1 ÷ 1/30

                                                                                                 = 30 minutes
