Number of hats = 2

Pairs of shorts = 3

Number of shirts = 4

So, Number of different combination of 1 hat, 1 shirt, and 1 pair of shorts = 2 × 3 × 4

= 24 pairs

 

So, he can wear 24 different combinations.
