Given :

Number of red pencils = 1

Number of yellow pencils = 1

Number of blue pencils = 1

Number of green pencils = 1

Number of orange pencils = 1

Number of purple pencils = 1

Total = 6

Favorable outcome (purple pencil) = 1

Probability = favorable outcome/Total outcome

= 1/6

Number of red pens = 1

Number of blue pens = 1

Number of black pens = 1

Total = 3

Probability of selecting black pen = 1/ 3

So, Probability of selecting purple pencil and black pen =  1/6 × 1/ 3

= 1/18

Hence, option (B) is correct.
