2 is a rational number since it can be solved as a ratio between two integers, let say for example 12 divide by 6 equals to 2. Hence, there are countless of numbers, that when divided by one another, the answer can result to 2. Also, irrational numbers are numbers that cannot be express as the ratio between two integers, that is why they are defined to be irrational, examples of which are pi, e and the golden ratio.
