Length of ropes 1 = 39 inches 

Length of ropes 2 = 52 inches 

Length of ropes 3 = 65 inches 

To find the greatest number of inches possible in the length of each piece we have to find the GCF of given numbers.

so, 

39 = 3 × 13

52 = 2 × 2 × 13

65 = 5 × 13

So, the GCF is 13.

 

Hence, greatest number of inches possible in the length of each piece is 13 inches.
