If the number of bacteria in a colony doubles every 400 hours and there is currently a population of 500 bacteria, what will the population be 800 hours from now?

Given :

Number of bacteria = 500

for the first 400 hours,the 500 bacteria will get doubled. So,

= 500 x 2

=1000 bacterias

then the next 400 hours,the 1000 bacteria will get doubled so,

= 1000 x 2

=2000 bacterias

Hence, the bacteria population 800 hours from now be 2000.
