The heart is only composed of one muscle since the heart is a muscle itself, known as the cardiac muscle. It is one of the three types of vertebrate muscles, the other two are the skeletal muscle and smooth muscles. The walls that made up the hearts is consist of three layers, and it is separated by a large cardiac muscle called the myocardium, which is also considered to be the thickest among the three layers.

The cardiac muscle coordinates contraction, which is essential for a person to live since it allows the heart to pump blood to the other parts of the body.
