Distributive property is the multiplication of the two addends by a number and the result will still the same even if the addends are interchanged. Distributive property can be expressed as a(b+c)= a(b) +a(c) where a is the number and b and c are the addends.
In the question, 12(2 + ½) can be inferred since 2 + ½ and 2 ½ is equal.
= a(b+c)= a(b) +a(c)
= 12(2 + ½) = 12(2) +12(½)
= 12(2½) = 24 +6
= 30 = 30
