Let the number of adult ticket be x

And, number of kids ticket be y

Then, according to question

x + y = 60 …1

5.50x + 4y = 285 ….2

Multiplying equation 1 by 4 and Subtracting with equation 2, we get

4x + 4y - (5.50x + 4y) = 240 - 285

4x + 4y - 5.50x - 4y = -45

-1.50x = - 45

x = -45/-1.50

x = 30

Now, putting value of x in equation 1, we get

30 + y = 60

y = 60 - 30

y = 30

Thus, 30 adults ticket and 30 kids under 12 tickets were sold.
