Find the area of a semicircle.

Since it is known that the area of a circle = πr^2, and half of a circle is a semicircle.

By logic we can denote that the area of a semicircle is,

Area of semicircle = π(r^2/2)

Example:

Given a semi circle with a radius of 4 cm, what is its total area?

Area of semicircle = π(4^2/2)

Area of semicircle = π(16/2)

Area of semicircle = π(8)

Area of semicircle = 25.13 cm^2

The formula which is used to calculate the

area of the semicircle is expressed as,

Area of semicircle (when the radius is given) = πr2/2

Area of semicircle (when the diameter is given) = πd2/8

where 'r' is the radius, and 'd' is the diameter.
