We know that 100% of any number, is the number itself. In this case we have a number unknown, lets call it X, and we know that 100% of this x number is still x. But we also know that 6% of this X number is 8. Based from this information we can create a ratio and we can cross multiply to find out the value of X.
If 100% is X
Then 6% is 8
If we cross multiply, so we will have 6 times x equal to 100 times 8 we will have this equation:
6x = 100*8
6x = 800
Divide both sides with 6.
6x/6 = 800/6
x=800/6
x=133.33… is the number we need.
