The ten commandments generally require people to refrain from certain actions, such as killing, committing adultery, stealing, and other forms of evil acts. Thus, in terms of honoring your mother and father, the sabbath day, and the name of the Lord, it basically means that one must avoid doing things that would violate such commandments of the Lord. The ten commandments does generally require a person to do it, but in simple words it must be done for the glory and honor of God and his commandments.
