Since we have a ratio 2:4 that means that the entire thing is separated in 2+4=6 pieces x.
2 times x= 2*x=2x
4 times x=4*x=4x
Lets find the value of x, and then find the value of 2x and 4x in order to find out the division of the money
2x+4x=12
6x=12
Divide both sides with 6.
6x/6 = 12/6
x = 2
2x is the part that Mick got = 2*2=$4
4x is the part that Sharon got=2*4=$8
