Answer: All three cells i.e. animal, plant, and paramecium cells will behave in the same way when kept in either of the solutions.

  1. When these cells will be kept in a hypertonic solution the concentration of the solution is more than the cells. So, the water will from the cells into the solution and the cells will shrink.
  2. When these cells will be kept in a hypotonic solution the concentration of the solution will be less than the cells. So, the water will move into the cells from the solution and the cells will swell.
  3. When these cells will be kept in an isotonic solution the concentration of the solution will be equal to the cells. So, there will be no water movement along the cell membrane and the cells remain the same.
