Let the number of shirts be x

And, number of pants be y

Then, according to question

x + y = 450        …1

25x + 65y = 17,250         …2

Now, Multiplying equation 1 by 25, we get

25x + 25y = 11,250       …3

Now, Subtracting equation 3 from 2, we get

25x + 65y - (25x + 25y) = 17,250 - 11,250

25x + 65y - 25x - 25y = 6,000

40y = 6,000

y = 6,000/40

y = 150

Now, putting value of y in equation 1, we get

x + 150 = 450

x = 450 - 150

x = 300

So, company sold 300 shirts
