A coin has two sides: heads and tails. A die has six sides, numbered 1 through 6. If you flip the coin and roll the die, what is the probability that you flip "heads" and roll a number less than 3?

We know a coin has two sides: heads and tails

so, favourable outcomes = 1

total outcomes = 2

probability of flipping head =  Favourable outcome/ total outcomes

                                                = ½

Now, total outcomes when we roll a dice = 6

favourable outcomes = 2 ( less than 3 according to question)

Now, probability of rolling a number less than 3 = Favourable outcome/ total outcomes

                                                                                    = 2/6

                                                                                    =⅓

Now, probability of flipping head and rolling a number less than 3 = ½ * ⅓

                                                                                                                    = 1/6

Hence, probability of  probability of flipping head and rolling a number less than 3 is 1/6 .
