A beam of wood is 5m long and 36cm thick. It is made of 1.35m³ of wood. what is the width of beam?

Given :

Volume of wood =1.35 m³

Length of beam =5 m

Thickness =36cm =36/100 m.

∴ Width =Volume/length×thickness

=1.35×100/5×36

=135/5×36

=3/4 m

=0.75 m or 75 cm 

 

Thus, width of the beam is 75 cm.
