Let the number of big bottles sold be x

And, number of small bottles sold be y

Then, according to question

x + y = 37      …1

5x + 3y = 131       …2

Multiplying equation 1 by 3, we get

3x + 3y = 111      ….3

Subtracting equation 3 from equation 2, we get

5x + 3y - 3x - 3y = 131 - 111

2x = 20

x = 20/2

x = 10

Now, putting value of x in equation 1

10 + y = 37

y = 37 - 10

y = 27

Hence, number of big bottles sold is 10 and number of small bottles sold is 27.
