1.

We have,

y=2x-6      …1

3x+y=4      …2

Using Substitution method, Putting value of y in equation 2

3x + 2x - 6 = 4

5x = 4 + 6

5x = 10

x = 10/5

x = 2

Now, putting value of x in equation 1

y = 2(2) - 6

y = 4 - 6

y = -2

2.

We have,

2x-y=6        ….1

x+y=6         .…2

Using elimination method, adding equation 1 and 2

2x - y + x + y = 6 + 6

3x = 12

x = 12/ 3

x = 4

Now, putting value of x in equation 2, we get

4 + y = 6

y = 6 - 4

y = 2
