So basically we have an equation and we need to find the value of b. In order to solve this equation we need to separate b first and put it on one side of the equation and then everything else on the other side. If a number or variable switches side, it will change its sign as well from + into a - and vice versa.

b/4+7 = 2

b/4 = 2-7

b/4 = -5

Multiply both sides with 4.

4b/4 = -5*4

b = -20
