−7x + y = −23 ….(2)
Using substitution method:
From equation 2
y = -23 + 7x ……(3)
putting value of x in equation 1, we get
14 - 2(-23 + 7x) = 46
14 + 46 - 14x = 46
- -14x = 46 - 60
- -14x = -14
- x =-14/-14
- x = 1
- Now, putting value of x in equation 3, we get
- y = -23 + 7(1)
- y = -23 + 7
- y = -16
Thus, value of x and y are -16 and 1 respectively.
