Here, we have

14x − 2y = 46           ….(1)

 −7x + y = −23          ….(2)

Using substitution method:

From equation 2

y = -23 + 7x         ……(3)

putting value of x in equation 1, we get

14 - 2(-23 + 7x) = 46

14 + 46 - 14x = 46

  • -14x = 46 - 60
  • -14x = -14
  • x =-14/-14
  • x = 1
  • Now, putting value of x in equation 3, we get
  • y = -23 + 7(1)
  • y = -23 + 7
  • y = -16

Thus, value of x and y are -16 and 1 respectively.
