length of square stick (side)=3 inches

area of one square stick=side*side

                                          =3*3

                                          =9 inch^2

Area of Square table=4 feet ^2

area of stick is in the inches then we have to convert area of square table in inches form

now, in 1 feet = 12 inches and in 1 square feet = 144 square inches

so, 4 square feet=144*4 square inches

4 square feet=576 square inches

now we came to know total square inches in 4 square feet

so, total sticks in the square table=area of table/ area of one stick

                                                         =576/9

                                                        =64 sticks

now, we have to find the number of sticks which can completely cover top of the square table:-

as we know, the square table have 4 sides left , right, top, bottom and it have same number of sticks in each side because it is in  the square shape and sticks also

so when we divide total sticks by total sides of table then we get total number of sticks in one side(top) of table:-

sticks at the top= total sticks/total sides of square table

                           =64/16

=16 sticks   ( at the top of square table  )
